Library Hours during term are: Monday - Thursday 8 am - 10 pm; Friday 8 am - 6pm; Saturday 9 am - 5 pm.
Library Hours during vac are: Monday - Friday 8.30 am - 5 pm; Saturday 9 am - 12.30 pm.
The library is generally closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. During exam times, the library is open until 11pm Mondays - Thursdays and on Sundays during this time.
However, the libraries' electronic resources are available at any time, from anywhere off campus, through the off-campus log-in on our home page. You log in using your UCT student number and password (same one that you use for VULA and checking your UCT email).
You need your student card to be able to come into the Chancellor Oppenheimer Library, and to be able to borrow materials, print or photocopy. No student card = no entry.
Special Collections is made up of internationally-renowned Africana and other research resources, including videos and sound recordings. It is housed in the J W Jagger Building, with its entrance on University Avenue.
Access for undergraduates is by arrangement only. Please speak to staff at the Information Desk in the Chancellor Oppenheimer Library.
