Library & Information Science Library Guide: Looking for Journals

A guide to the resources in UCT Libraries

Print Journals

Individual journal titles in print format may be found using the JOURNAL SEARCH on PRIMO.

Print journals are organised as follows:-

  • The very latest issues are kept on the Upper Level of the Research Wing.  They may not be borrowed, but there are photocopying and scanning facilities available.
  • The earlier volumes (1965+) are kept on Levels 2 and 3 of the Chancellor Oppenheimer Library.
  • Pre-1965 volumes are housed off-site and need to be requested via the Loans Desk.

Online Journals

There are over 87 000 journal titles available online:  these can be found by using the Journal Search on PRIMO.

If the journal is not available in print or electronically, then articles from the journal can be requested from another library in South Africa via our Interlibrary Loans Department.   Requests can be made electronically.
