The library has an extensive collection of print journals but in recent years many titles have been replaced by the online version only. Journals published from 1990 are housed on levels 3 and 5 of the Health Sciences Library. Earlier years are kept in the basement which is a closed access area and items need to be requested from here. You may also request that journals be sent from the Main Library or other branches of UCT Libraries. You will need to Browse the alphabetical index of the Library Catalogue(Aleph) to establish our print journal holdings.
The library has an extensive list of journals to which we have full-text online access. Access to these e-journals is available through our Electronic Journal Portal. When off-campus, remember to sign into EZProxy first.
Note that whenever you are searching the databases and you see the SFX Citation Linker, if we have access, this will link you to the full-text.
If UCT Libraries do not hold the journal that you are looking for or do not offer online access to it, you may request an article through the Interlibrary Loans System. Requests for interlibrary loans may be done online. For more information about interlibrary loans and to register for online requests contact
