Welcome / Wamkelekile / Welkom
The aim of this guide is to provide library resources and information to geological science students, researchers and academics.
You are most welcome to contact me by telephone or email for an individual or group meeting or for any questions you may have. Assistance can be related to an assignment, project, referencing, library skills training or any topic of interest. Contact me by email or telephone (021 6502773) to arrange a time. It's best to set up an appointment but you are most welcome to drop by my office any time.
Remember to ask us if you cannot find information. We are here to help you! E-mail your subject librarian Jen Eidelman or ask at the Information Desk in the library.
I hope you have fun watching this video clip which is an introduction to UCT Libraries!
Understand your topic
Before you begin searching for information, you should thoroughly understand the topic you are researching. General science dictionaries, subject dictionaries, and encyclopedias are a good place to begin. Dictionaries provide definitions of unfamiliar terms, while encyclopedias give explanations and succinct overviews of topics.
