eBook version of Biology: a global approach (also known as Campbell Biology) 10th edition is now available on the Ebook Central platform and it is no longer in DawsonEra.

Five users can access and download eBook at a given time. Downloading is the same as borrowing a book for offline use.

Please follow the steps below to open and use the textbook on Ebook Central:

 

Access from EBook Central

Step 1. Open UCT Libraries website (www.lib.uct.ac.za)

Step 2. Select Databases A-Z option from ‘Search & Find’ menu

Step 3. From the databases list, navigate to ‘E’ and open Ebook Central. If prompted to sign in to Single-Sign-On, use your UCT network credentials.

Step 4. Search for the textbook, Biology: a global approach, in the provided search box. You may put the title in double quotation mark to force exact phrase search.

Step 5. From the retrieved results, open the textbook by clicking on the title

Step 6. Now you have two options to read the book: Read Online or Download Book.

Access through Primo

Step 1. Open UCT Libraries website (www.lib.uct.ac.za)

Step 2. In the provided search box, search for "Biology: a global approach". You may put the title in double quotation mark to force exact phrase search.

Step 3. From the retrieved results, select 'Biology: a global approach' title with 'Multiple Versions' information

Step 4. Click on the 2015 title that have 'Available Online' green tag

Step 5. Scroll down to the 'View Online' section and click on 'EBook Central' link from the white bar

Step 6. You will be prompted to sign-in, please use your UCT network credentials to log in. Note that if you have signed in previously in the same browser, it will automatically recognise the credentials and continues to the next step.

Step 7. Once signed in EBook Central record of 'Biology: a global approach' will open with two reading options.

Read

Read Online option: this option allows you to read the book in the Ebook Central reader platform live on the browser. The platform allows you to annotate, bookmark, highlight, copy … using available interactive tools as indicated in the snapshot below. Make sure you are active on the page once you start reading online.

Download Book option: Download option allows you to have the book for 24hrs offline use. In order to download, you will need to have eBook readers (specifically Digital Rights Management [DRM] enabled reader). By default, Ebook Central will prompt you to install Adobe Digital Edition. To download, click the blue ‘Download Book’ button. If you are already in the Online reading interface, you can download the book using the downloading facility on the page. Please see the screenshot below.
