The Visible Human Project® is an outgrowth of the NLM's 1986 Long-Range Plan. It is the creation of complete, anatomically detailed, three-dimensional representations of the normal male and female human bodies. Acquisition of transverse CT, MR and cryosection images of representative male and female cadavers has been completed. Allows the user to pick a body system and click on various parts to learn more about it.

The human head is comprised of 23 different bones. The Cranium, also called the "Skull," describes the skeleton that comprises all of the bones of the head, face and lower jaw (i.e., the mandible). In an adult, various bones of the cranium are paired (i.e., consist of a left and a right) while others which cross the mid-sagittal plane are unpaired.

The purpose of this lesson is to help you learn the various parts of and landmarks on the skull.

This library is a public and easily accessible resource database of images, videos, and animations of cells, capturing a wide diversity of organisms, cell types, and cellular processes. The purpose of this database is to advance research on cellular activity, with the ultimate goal of improving human health.
