Books are arranged in subject order according to the Dewey Decimal System. It is therefore important that you check the library catalogue PRIMO to find the shelf number of the book you are looking for or an online version.
Books often have prefixes which tell you in which part of the library they can be found. For example the prefix CR indicates that the book is part of the Commerce Reference collection. A full list of prefixes can be found on the Book Location chart.
Electronic journals and databases can be accessed off campus using EZProxy. The link can also be found on the Libraries web page.
Log in to EZProxy using your student ID and Novell password.
Once logged in you will be taken to the main UCT Libraries web page and from there can access our electronic resources.
Photocopy and print machines are located throughout the library. Machines to add credits to your account can be found in the Knowledge Commons, in the Humanities section of the main library and near the Interlibrary Loans (ILL) department. Alternatively, credits can be added in the Copy Shop just outside the main library and, if required, change given by the staff there.
