A journal is like a magazine where scholars report their research findings as articles.
A book is a longer, and a usually more comprehensive text on a subject.
Journal articles are shorter, and more specific. They are published more frequently and so have more up-to-date information than books do.
At UCT Libraries we have journals in both print and electronic format.
To find print journals, use Primo. The journals are physically housed in three different areas:
To find electronic journals, use the Journal Search in Primo. Remember to search for the journal title, and not the article title.
If you would like to access a full volume of a journal published in and prior to 1965, please make a request at the Loans Desk.
If you would like to have a scanned copy of an article from a journal that have been published in or prior to 1965 please send a request by sending an email to your librarian awot.gebregziabher@uct.ac.za
